NOBE Mines is the Colorado School of Mines chapter of the National Organization for Business and Engineering (NOBE), a national network preparing the next generation of leaders to thrive at the intersection of technical expertise and business strategy.
At Mines—a university renowned for engineering and applied science—NOBE fills a critical gap by equipping students with business knowledge, leadership experience, and professional skills often overlooked in traditional STEM curricula.
We bring together students who want to go beyond technical expertise and understand how engineering connects with real-world business decisions in entrepreneurship, finance, operations, and product development. Through events, workshops, projects, and leadership opportunities, we empower members to become well-rounded professionals who can communicate across disciplines and drive innovation.
Our Mission: Not just to teach business, but to build confidence and capability to lead in any professional setting.
Membership
Our chapter continues to grow, attracting students from disciplines such as Business Engineering and Management Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Applied Mathematics.
Committees Driving Engagement
- Personal Finance Committee: Teaches students budgeting, investing, and financial planning.
- Investment Committee: Offers hands-on experience in equity research, valuation, and portfolio management.
These committees create leadership opportunities, expand programming, and develop practical business and financial skills while ensuring the chapter’s long-term sustainability.
Events and Activities
We host high-impact events that connect students with industry and alumni, including:
- Corporate Chapter Meeting with PepsiCo: Direct connections with industry leaders; one student secured an internship.
- adVENTURE + Due Diligence Program with Mines Venture Fund: Hands-on experience evaluating startups and venture capital processes.
- Industry Mixer aligned with Career Days: Early networking in a smaller, personal setting ahead of recruiting season.
NOBE National Conference
The NOBE National Conference is our flagship event, bringing students from multiple universities together for professional growth, collaboration, and competition.
- Panels & Speakers: Industry leaders, alumni, and professionals share insights on leadership, career development, and the business-engineering connection.
- Case Competition: Teams solve real-world challenges, strengthening technical, analytical, and teamwork skills.
- Career Workshops & Networking: Resume building, interview prep, personal branding, and connections with recruiters and sponsors.
Thanks to support from Chevron, the Mines Economics and Business Department, and the Mines Foundation, the conference builds regional recognition for Mines and reinforces our reputation as a leader in bridging technical expertise with business leadership.
Partnerships
We are proud to collaborate with organizations such as PepsiCo, Chevron, the Mines Venture Fund, and receive ongoing support from the Mines Foundation and Department of Economics and Business.
These partnerships provide funding, professional engagement, and resources to host impactful events. By supporting NOBE Mines, partners invest in the future of Mines students and the broader business-engineering community.
